Ayatollah Kourani:

Saudi Hadith Complex Ploy to Spread Wahhabism

A senior Lebanese Shia scholar described a plan for creation of a “complex’ for Prophet’s Hadith” in Saudi Arabia as a scheme to distort Islam and spread Wahhabism.

The Center of Mosque Studies: - Last week, Saudi Arabia’s King Salman issued a decree ordering the creation of the "King Salman Complex,” for the Prophet’s Hadith, in the city of Madinah.

Sheikh Mohammed Bin Hassan Al-Sheikh was appointed as the chairman of the Senior Scholars Council that will run the complex.

Lebanese Shia scholar Ayatollah Ali Kurani said the move is a new Saudi attempt at distorting Islam and propagating Wahhabi views.

Stressing that efforts for promoting the Prophetic Hadiths is praiseworthy in itself, the cleric said the Saudi monarch’s move, however, is ceremonial and meant to deceive the public.

The policies and actions of the Saudi regime have no resemblance to the Holy Prophet’s (PBUH) Sunnah, he said.

Ayatollah Kurani added that behind the Saudi king’s order are Wahhabi Muftis who claim only what Wahhabis narrate from the Prophet (PBUH) is authentic and other sources are not reliable.

He called on followers of different Islamic schools of thought to be vigilant in the face of Wahhabis’ attempts to propagate their ideology.

The cleric described Wahhabism as the brainchild of Britain and a deviated cult, stressing that it has nothing to do with Sunni Islam.

He further criticized the Saudi regime for implementing the divisive polices of the Zionist regime in the region and said that creation of such complexes and centers will not deceive Muslims and cannot justify the extremist nature of Wahhabism and Salafism.
