Jam’e Mosque of Semnan

Vahid Pourtajrishi  6/28/2014

This mosque is one of the oldest Islamic monuments of semnan City. According to the available evidences, the mosque is constructed on the remaining of a temple which had been at the same place in the First Hijri Century but some repairs also were done in this building along the time. The present building of the mosque mostly belongs to the Mogul and Timurid dynasties eras. The brick made balcony of this mosque with 21 meters height was built by Khajeh Shamsuddin Ali Balijeh Semnani who was the minister of Sahrukh Shah Timurid and its dome also was built by Khaje Abou Saeid at the same time with Sultan Senjer’s kingship.
