Quran Competition Planned in India

The Iranian Cultural Center in India plans to organize the 19th edition of a national competition on Quran memorization and recitation in New Delhi, the Indian capital on November 22 to 24.

The Center of Mosque Studies - According to the website of the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization (ICRO), the center will host the competition on the occasion of the Muslims Unity Week.

As many as 150 Quran activists from all over the country will compete in the categories of memorization of the entire Quran and recitation.

The Quranic event will be supervised by 3 Indian and 2 Iranian Quran experts.

The Iranian experts will be dispatched to India by the Iranian Organization of Awqaf (endowments) and Charity Affairs in cooperation with ICRO’s General Office for International Dissemination.

The previous edition of the Quran competition in 2017 was held with 155 participants, including 68 memorizers of the entire Quran and 87 Qaris, from 16 states of India.

Seyyed Hamid Heravi and Mahdi Hassani were the two Iranian referees who, along with two Indian experts, supervised the three-day national competition in the categories of recitation and memorization respectively.
