Decedent Ayatollah Bahjat was the student of decedent Ayatollah Ghazi when he studied in Najaf. Ayatollah Ghazi gave the ‘’Fazel Gilani’’ epithet to him (it means the scholar from Gilan Province).
According to Fars News Agency, Hujatul Islam Ali Bahjat, the son of decedent Ayatollah Bahjat who was talking about him in Ziafat TV show about him, asserted: during the Shiite history, there were many scholars who attempted much but just a few of them were distinctive in spiritual dignity and could achieve the real right way and certainly decedent Ayatollah Bahjat was one of them.
Ayatollah Bahjat had insight while he was only 12 years old!
He said: everybody believed that Ayatollah Bahjat had gnosis insight but he never paid attention to these words and restrained people to acquire for such subjects. He asserted: Ayatollah Bahjat was able to recognize the pith of sins when he was only 12 years old and was able to realize the spiritual feelings of decedent Ayatollah Naeini when he attended his Jama’ah Salaat. Ayatollah Bahjat could kept his childhood chastity during his life. That’s why he had not been polluted to sins and was able to fly lightly.
Ayatollah Bahjat was nominated as Fazel Gilani by decedent Ayatollah Ghazi
According to Ayatollah Bahjat’s son, he was the student of decedent Ayatollah Ghazi. Decedent Allameh Tabatabaei said: when we were seminary student in Najaf, it took about four or five years to know Atyatollah Ghazi ut bahjat could go to him in beginning.
Ayatollah Bahjat said about his acquaintance with ayatollah Ghazi:
‘’ when I was in Karbala, someone came from Najaf to pilgrimage every Thursday who was Allameh Tabatabaei’s brother. I heard the name of Ayatollah ghazi from him for the first time’’
His son says that after resolving a scientific problem, decedent Ghazi said to him: اشهد انک فاضلAnd nominated him as ‘’Fazel Gilani’’
He never asked any question from Ayatollah Ghazi coz he was able to read Bahjat’s mind before he asked. Even sometimes Ayatollah ghazi said this is Bahjat’s answer! Ayatollah Bahjat described this matter and said, even two or three times, one of my classmates asked me: did you ask any question from Sir?!
In fact, he was educated by attending the lectures of the greatest teachers but it doesn’t mean that he searched for the mentioned teachers but in fact, if you are in true way, God guides you into the bests. According to Ali Bahjat (the son of Ayatollah Bahjat), the Ayatollah ghazi’s lectures were so worthy and valuable. According to him, decedent Ghouchani says about Ayatollah Bahjat that: he had more than twenty sanctities and his highness was demonstrated to us while he was only 22 years old.
After coming back from the Imam Reza’s holly shrine was very active and fresh. Ali Bahjat says: he went to Mashhad for pilgrimage Imam Reza’s holly shrine two and half months a year but never purchased even a small flat for himself during these forty years. He woke up two hours before sunrise every day to worship and then went to Imam Reza’s holly shrine while was very weak because of much worshipping. But when he was very active and fresh after coming back from the holly shrine as made us wondered because of this much energy.
He asserted: Ayatollah Bahjat attended the Hazrat Masoumeh’s holly shrine since 1945 two hours a day. He read Ziarat (written prayers to be said at the time of performing a pilgrimage) every day.
Sleeping in a sitting posture
Hujjatul Islam Ali Bahjat asserted: Ayatollah Bahjat was very serious in teaching and active in worshipping. But teaching never separated him from worshipping hard. He was very regular in his works and used all of his time. I remember that when he was shifting from a desk to another desk and I asked a question from him, he replied it is not time to ask. It means, even he cared for short times.
He continued his words about Ayatollah Bahjat’s sleeping time and said: he mostly slept in sitting posture and if we asked the cause of this work, he replied that I don’t want to be dominated by sleeping.
He resolved the people’s problems individually if we were not succeed to resolve
According to the Ayatollah Bahjat’s son, he cared for his family members so much and met us mostly on lunch time and asked about our health and conditions. He were very serious on resolving people’s problems and asked us to resolve their problems. If we forgot to consider people’s affairs he did them individually. Even he forgave our foods to others some times and we hadn’t more than four months any rice in our home to eat.
The brutality events in Islamic cities such as Bagdad made him too sad as you taught one of his relatives had been killed in that explosion. Even sometimes he hadn’t enough energy to continue his teaching and got very sad and said: bless to us Allah. What have to we do with these wild aggressors?
He got too angry if you praised him and his spiritual dignities and said: ‘’ who am I? I’m just a beggar’’ while we knew it was his munificence. Ali Bahjat described one of his memories related this issue:
‘’ someone came to Ayatollah Bahjat and said, I want nominate my orphan and Ayatollah Bahjat recommended Zainab while nobody told the sexuality of the baby to him. But he never wanted to become famous in these characteristics.
He destroyed all the symptoms
Ayatllah Bahjat’s son said: the life manner of decedent Ayatollah Bahjat was very complicated and it took many years to get the answer of a question from him because he was not ready to show anything about himself. Decedent Allameh Jafari advised me to come to Qom beside of my father in 1984. But I couldn't get anything about my father. Just I could discover some of his munificence and wrote them. But he destroyed all of these papers. He never wanted these documents be published.
