Lower Makefield mosque expresses condolences to terror victims

Members of the Zubaida Foundation in Lower Makefield expressed their condolences to the families and friends of the terrorist victims in France following Wednesday’s attack on the Charlie Hebdo satirical magazine.

We emphatically condemn the terrorist acts and killings by all who do so,” representatives of the Muslim mosque said in a prepared statement. “We continue to pray for those who have been affected by this tragedy and send our condolences to the families affected.”

Syed Afzal, who serves as Director of Outreach and Interfaith at the mosque, said the best way for people to counteract such acts is to learn about each other. “Let’s talk,” Afzal said in the statement.

The Zubaida Foundation is a nonprofit organization at Big Oak and Makefield roads that was established in 2005.

The foundation aims to improve the spiritual, moral and social health of the local community by engaging in interfaith dialogues and activities with people of all faiths, mosque representatives said.
